The City of Raymond welcomes you to our website designed to help residents and visitors find information about our town. Raymond is a great place to live and work. We have an elementary school, two churches, two parks, 300 homes, and several businesses.

We are located just one mile off Interstate 380 and 7 miles east of Waterloo. 2016 estimated population is 809.

Notice is hereby given that a public hearing will be held by the City Council of Raymond, Iowa in the Raymond City Hall located at 101 1st St in Raymond, Iowa at 6:00 p.m. on July 16, 2018. The purpose of this hearing is to solicit citizen input on the proposed ordinance amendment of Chapter 91 Water Meters, Section 91.01 Water Use Metered.

Amending Section 91.01 Water Use Metered of the Code of Ordinances of the City of Raymond, Iowa, to place the expense on the benefitted property owner as follows:         

91.01  Water Use Metered.  All meters shall be installed, maintained, and renewed by Waterloo Water Works (the Utility) at the expense of the benefitted property owner.  The Utility reserves the right to determine the size and type of meter used.

The public is invited to attend.  A copy of the associated information for this public hearing is on file for review at Raymond City Hall, 101 1st St., 319-232-6153.  Any persons wishing to be heard on this matter will be afforded the opportunity to be heard. Written comments will be accepted through the day of the public hearing at Raymond City Hall; PO Box 156; Raymond, Iowa 50667.  City Hall hours are Monday 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., Tuesday through Thursday 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Friday 7 a.m. to 11 a.m.   Oral questions or comments can be directed to (319) 232-6153.

                                                          PUBLIC HEARING NOTICE

 

 

Notice is hereby given that a public hearing will be held by the City Council of Raymond, Iowa in the Raymond City Hall located at 101 1st St in Raymond, Iowa at 6:00 p.m. on July 16, 2018. The purpose of this hearing is to solicit citizen input on the proposed ordinance amendment of Chapter 17 City Council Section 17.06 Compensation.

Amending Section 17.06 of the Code of Ordinances of the City of Raymond, Iowa by adding subsection 2 and subsection 3, as follows:       

17.06 Compensation.

  1. Regular Meetings. Each City Council member shall be paid fifty dollars ($50.00) for each regular City Council meeting attended, payable semi-annually. 
  1. Additional Qualifying Meetings. Effective January 1, 2021, in addition to compensation provided in Subsection 1, each Council Member shall be paid fifteen dollars ($15.00) for attendance at each additional qualifying meeting as assigned by the Mayor, subject to the following condition:

            a.  Compensation paid to Council Members for attendance at additional qualifying meetings may not exceed two-thousand dollars ($2,000.00) per year for Council as a whole.

      3.  This Chapter does not apply to the Mayor and Mayor Pro Tem.  The Mayor and Mayor Pro Tem shall be paid the compensation as defined in Chapter 15 and Chapter 16 of the Raymond City Ordinances

Hawkeye Valley Area Agency on Aging meals are offered on a contribution basis for people over 60 years of age. Actual cost for the meal is $7.26. People under the age of 60 must pay the actual cost. Meals are offered on a contribution basis to those ages 60 and over. Meals are offered at the United Method Church in Raymond at noon on Wednesdays. For more information, to reserve a place or order a meal, call the Senior Center at 319-272-2086.
